What I did in the village but nv at home.
1. I did laundry every other day
...not that I perspired so much n had alot to wash but because the pace of life was so slow and I had to keep myself occupied with sthing.
2. I learn to throw rubbish everywhere
They throw rubbish practically everywhere. So conveniently that I felt so awkward to just throw my banana skin on the ground after holding on to it for so long and wondering where's the bin exactly only to realise... ... there's no bin here! Imagine, dicing some carrots on the chopping board at the balcony...then u conveniently swipe the unwanted skin across with the chopper..n phew!...there goes the carrot skin flying into grass....
3. I nv failed to walk a few km every day.
Walked to the marketplace, walked up the hills, walked the kids home, walked to school.... we walked everywhere. The only luxury we had was the 20cents toot-toot to bring us back home from the market.
4. I woke up as early as 7am for my morning jog/walk.
7am! I nv ever run in Singapore. Yet, I woke up at 7am to run. Ya, mayb becos it was too hard to slp on the ground without a bed. But it was nice to run in the misty cool morning to greet the green maize and rice.
5. I had to brush and clean my toes every day.
With a toothbrush in my hands brushing my toes at our lovely balcony under the hot sun, I was being disturbed and laughed at for having dirty feet. I hav no idea why only my toes (of all people) gets dirt stuck in nails....just exactly like those villagers' fingers n toes. Don't worry, i did pedicure b4 I came home. I'm as clean as ivory now. =p
6. I wore specs and made myself ugly.
....because I nv felt clean to touch my contact lenses. until the very last day b4 we left.
7. I enjoyed bathing with my bathing partners-irene n peiying in that dark, slippery bathrm.
The bitching, the stripping, the sneak previews, and the waiting. It was really an experience seeing someone doing stunts in bra only. haha. can imagine how scared i was ..then.
8. I enjoyed soaking my toes n feet in the river. The water was cooling...but it was suspiciously dirty.
9. I drank water right from the river/spring...from all sources that was supposedly clean. How clean it is, I really made a bet with my stomach. I cant believe I drank from unclean cups. n ate food of unknown sources. I was lucky to get diarhoea. only.
10. I became part of the drama queen club.
under the influence of Irene, the superb drama queen of the universe.
The very Lovely moments of the village
1. Kids simply adored us as idols.
They scream, they shout, they grab...they just come up to us and say ‘老师好!’They are mischevious, and are dirty.... but they can be so adorable on top of their pinky cheeks.... that I just want to hug them like my own...

2. 金鼎山. Woke up 3 am in the morning to climb more than a thousand steps to catch the early sunrise. First time I trekked in the dark in the mountains. dun tink its hill? nt too sure.mayb its realy BIG hill. trekked until my legs went wobbly and shoes all flipped out n had to stick tape to it. But it was really high up n windy-like genting highlands. even better! The sun was alrdy up but it was the first time I saw the sun revealing from behind the clouds. beautiful!

3. This small hill with a breathtaking sight.
Most of the time, good sights require some long trekking and climbing. Still rem I woke up at 3am in the morning to climb probably more than a thousand steps up to 金鼎山 to catch the morning sun rise.I didn't believe the kids that I will soon get to see a nice view. Yet, as promised, 10 mins up this small hill n I caught a surprising view.

4. The nicest flowers I ever received.
1 big bunch of flowers freshly plucked by the kids when we went trekking to this small hill while sending the kids back. They just go ‘老师,老师。。给你’and passed me and peiying those flowers that grew in the hills. They jus kept plucking and giving us until I had 1 big bunch of flowers that I could hardly hold it in 1 hand as we trekked together.

5. Another nice bunch of flowers I received.
Knowing that I was deprived of flowers for 4 yrs on our first emo session, frens were so sweet enuff to pluck me some flowers all wrapped nicely in a small ribbon during their trekking. thanks! so touched.

6. 玉阳 kissed n hugged me like his mum. what a heartwarming sight. awwww~

7. Largest waterfalls in China - beautiful! Enjoyed going through and behind the waterfalls.

Something abt Amazing China.
1. Car honking
Usually, when people honk in Singapore, it means sthing disastrous is going to happen nex. But in China, drivers honked every now n then when they feel like it - so one can hear car honks practically every few seconds. They honked so much that I was almost immune to it n doesnt react to honks anymore and almost got knocked.
2. Smoking & drinking
They smoke n drink like nuts. I wonder how their lungs n liver survive. I wonder why man can network over such smelly stuff... ..

Things I would have wanted to do b4 leaving
1. I want to send 兴群 home with Noel. I feel so disappointed with myself for giving up halfway to send her home...because I was scared of trekking those steep trails that lead to her hse right on top of the hill. n because of that, I broke her little heart only to replace that with my Bee-trademark painting.

2. I want to eat more 豆浆油条. 30 cents worth of Hot and tasty food to start off a good day. Worth the walk, worth the early wake-ups. Wished I eaten more of it. really. I tasted those in Sing when I came back. 7 times more expensive...yet it was far cry from what I ate in Guizhou. Takeaway delivery, anyone?
